Dr. Do Eon-rok of 1mm Plastic Surgery attended the 14th Academic Symposium of the Society of Oculoplastic Surgery in 2021 as a speaker and gave an academic presentation.
This academic symposium of the Society of Eye Plastic Surgery was held in the form of an online webinar with the participation of 25 academic members of the Society, divided into chairpersons and speakers.
The Society of Ocular Surgery, which hosted the academic symposium on ocular surgery, is an academic group under the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons that shares clinical cases regarding ocular surgery and the latest knowledge in the field.
The symposium on this day served as an opportunity to examine recent trends in eye surgery. It consisted of five sessions and two video sessions covering trendy double eyelid surgery techniques, upper eyelid and forehead wrinkle improvement surgery, the past and present of lower eyelid surgery and mid-face lifts, approaches for unique patients, and methods for upper eyelid revision surgery.
Director Do Eon-rok, who attended as a speaker for the canthoplasty session, delivered a lecture on the topic of 'Session 5: Tips and how to access each specific patient in canthoplasty.'
Director Do Eon-rok gave a presentation on "the type of eye widening procedure to be performed based on eye shape and the application of widening techniques differentiated by each patient's characteristics." He also introduced new widening techniques in addition to traditional methods.
While the dominant method for incisions in the past involved fixation to the periosteum, the newly announced technique involves fixation to ligament tissue rather than the periosteum. The advantages and disadvantages of these two methods were compared, and the speaker shared their unique surgical techniques and clinical know-how.
Meanwhile, Director Do Eon-rok was recently appointed as a speaker at the 2021 Aesthetic Plastic Surgery International Conference and gave a presentation on the topics of epicanthoplasty and upper eyelid surgery. In addition, he continues his steady research and academic activities, including conducting invited lectures and live surgical demonstrations at domestic and international conferences every year as an academic committee member of the Eye Surgery Research Group of the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
